Step into the neon-soaked world of SynthGroove VR, a groundbreaking rhythm shooter born from the collaboration of a dynamic small team. Drawing inspiration from acclaimed games like 'Beat Saber' and 'Pistol Whip,' SynthGroove VR has a unique blend of retro-wave aesthetics and intense dual-pistol shoot'em up action.

The aim of this project was to build a Rhythm game in VR similar to the popular game "Beat Saber".

Challenges
Completing this project came with a host of unique challenges, some of which included:
- Synchronizing audio to gameplay such that the notes spawn in-time with the song.
- Designing a diegetic user interface to create a truly unique iPod themed main menu.
- Implementing a captivating retro-wave inspired environment and art style.
Moments of Breakthrough
Beat Manager
One of the core technical innovations within SynthGroove VR is the implementation of a sophisticated Beat Manager System. This system serves as the backbone for synchronizing in-game actions with the rhythm of the audio, contributing to the immersive and engaging gameplay experience. It makes use of a Conductor Class that tracks the song position and any synced actions
Ipod Menu
Creating an interactable main menu that the player can interact with was another great achievement. The style and feel of the menu lends itself perfectly to the rest of the game and offers a unique take on VR menu design.

Environment
The creation of the retro-wave inspired environment in SynthGroove VR was pivotal to immersing players in a visually captivating and nostalgic atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from the neon-soaked aesthetics, the design concept aimed to transport players into a world as such.
Reflections
The development of SynthGroove VR tackled the concept of audio synchronization in the VR rhythm genre. Overcoming challenges with the Beat Manager System marked a defining breakthrough, blending captivating audiovisual synchronization with shoot'em up action.
